The electronics industry is on track to become the largest manufacturing sector globally and in India, according to Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Secretary S Krishnan. Speaking at the inauguration of Zetwerk Electronics' new manufacturing facility in Sriperumbudur, Krishnan highlighted Tamil Nadu’s growing prominence as a key player in global electronics manufacturing.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa, and Zetwerk CEO Amrit Acharya attended the event. Krishnan emphasized that achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious goal of $500 billion in annual electronics manufacturing would be challenging without Tamil Nadu’s active contribution. He noted that nearly 20–25% of this target must come from the region.

The state’s high-quality workforce has made it a prime destination for electronics manufacturers, attracting significant investment. Tamil Nadu’s electronics sector continues to expand, reinforcing its position as a major hub for global exports and industrial growth.
