Intermittent fasting (IF) is a dietary approach that cycles between periods of eating and fasting, offering several health benefits. When fasting, the body undergoes metabolic changes, including lower insulin levels, which promote fat burning and weight loss.

During fasting, the body shifts to using stored fat for energy, improving metabolism and reducing inflammation. IF enhances cellular repair through autophagy, a process that removes damaged cells and toxins, potentially lowering the risk of diseases like Alzheimer's and cancer.

Intermittent fasting can also improve heart health by reducing cholesterol, blood pressure, and insulin resistance. Additionally, IF supports brain function by increasing the production of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which aids in cognitive health and memory.

However, fasting may cause temporary side effects like hunger, fatigue, and mood changes, especially for beginners. Staying hydrated and consuming nutrient-dense meals during eating windows can optimize results. With proper practice, IF can promote overall health and longevity.
