Taiwan’s Defence Ministry reported an unusually large presence of Chinese military ships, planes, and drones surrounding the island between Sunday and Monday. Of the 59 detected, 43 entered Taiwan’s air defense identification zone, prompting Taiwan to deploy aircraft, navy ships, and coastal missile defenses.

China described the military exercises as a response to recent U.S. and Taiwanese actions. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning condemned U.S. policy changes regarding Taiwan and reiterated Beijing’s stance that such drills were necessary to safeguard sovereignty.
Taiwanese President William Lai Ching-te further provoked Beijing by labeling China a "foreign hostile force" and warning of espionage threats.
The Taiwan Strait, a crucial international trade route, remains a focal point of tensions. While China does not interfere with civilian shipping, it frequently protests U.S. and allied naval presence. The latest escalation raises concerns over regional stability.
