The FBI has classified a deadly shooting outside a Jewish museum in Washington, D.C. as an act of terrorism and hate crime. Elias Rodriguez, 31, allegedly killed two Israeli Embassy staffers—an American woman and an Israeli man who were soon to be engaged—shouting, “I did it for Palestine, I did it for Gaza,” during his arrest.

Federal documents reveal Rodriguez traveled from Chicago with a concealed weapon, purchasing a ticket just hours before the attack. Eyewitnesses saw him pacing before opening fire. Surveillance footage shows him examining the fallen victims, appearing to reload before fleeing.
He later entered the museum, declaring he was unarmed and repeating his earlier statements. Rodriguez refused to respond to charges during a brief court appearance. FBI Director Kash Patel strongly condemned the attack, calling it a "targeted anti-Semitic act of terror" and promising a full federal response. The investigation is ongoing, with more charges expected.
