Heathrow Airport has confirmed that it is fully operational as of Saturday, March 22, following a major power outage caused by a fire at an electrical substation. The disruption forced the temporary closure of one of Europe’s busiest airports, affecting at least 1,350 flights, according to FlightRadar24. While operations have resumed, passengers may still experience delays and cancellations in the coming days.

The fire, which broke out near Heathrow, resulted in an explosion, sending a fireball and plumes of smoke into the sky. The Metropolitan Police have stated that the incident is not being treated as suspicious, while the London Fire Brigade continues investigating the electrical distribution failure.

Heathrow’s CEO, Thomas Woldbye, assured travelers that the airport is back to normal. Meanwhile, Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander emphasized the importance of reviewing airport systems to prevent similar incidents in the future.
