Israel launched a massive wave of airstrikes across Gaza early Tuesday, targeting dozens of Hamas sites in its most intense assault since the January ceasefire. Palestinian officials reported at least 200 deaths. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu justified the strikes, citing stalled ceasefire negotiations and vowing to intensify military pressure on Hamas.

The attack shattered a period of relative calm during Ramadan, raising fears of escalating conflict in the 17-month war that has already claimed over 48,000 Palestinian lives. Hamas condemned Israel’s actions, warning of risks to the remaining hostages. Explosions were seen in Khan Younis, with hospitals overwhelmed by casualties.

The White House supported Israel, blaming Hamas for refusing to release hostages. Israeli officials hinted at expanding military operations. Defense Minister Israel Katz warned of severe consequences if hostages weren’t freed. Meanwhile, rescue efforts in Gaza faced difficulties as multiple areas were struck simultaneously, deepening the humanitarian crisis.
