Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra successfully withstood a no-confidence vote in Parliament on Wednesday, securing 319 votes in her favor, with 161 against and seven abstentions. The vote followed two days of intense debate, during which opposition lawmakers accused her of mismanagement and alleged undue influence from her father, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Critics argued that Paetongtarn’s leadership prioritizes her family’s financial and political interests, accusing her administration of tax evasion and failing to address key national issues, including the sluggish economy, crime, air pollution, and corruption. Thaksin, a highly polarizing figure, was ousted in a 2006 coup and recently returned from exile, further fueling concerns about his influence.
Despite the allegations, Paetongtarn retained strong parliamentary support. Following the vote, she took to social media to express gratitude to all parties involved in the process, reinforcing her commitment to leading the country forward.
