Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to visit Quetta to assess the security situation after the Jaffar Express hijacking incident, according to Geo News.

Security forces, including the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Special Services Group (SSG), Army, and Frontier Corps (FC), conducted a two-day operation, eliminating 33 Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) militants who had seized the train with over 400 passengers on board. As per military spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the attackers coordinated with their masterminds in Afghanistan via satellite phones.

Tragically, 21 hostages were killed before the operation, along with four FC personnel. However, all remaining captives were successfully rescued. Snipers neutralized suicide bombers who had been using hostages as shields.

Emergency services were activated in Sibi and Quetta, where 29 injured passengers received treatment. Of them, 16 were admitted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH), while 13 were at Civil Hospital. The deceased and wounded were transported to their hometowns after necessary procedures.
