Pope Francis's condition is improving, and doctors no longer fear for his life, the Vatican announced. The 88-year-old pontiff could be discharged within days, though his condition remains complex.

"The clinical conditions of the Holy Father continue to be stable," the Vatican stated, citing improvements confirmed by blood tests and a good response to treatment. Doctors have recommended he stay in the hospital for several more days to complete his therapy due to the severity of his initial infection.
A Vatican source noted it is "too soon to talk about his return to Santa Marta," but his discharge is expected once treatment is completed. Pope Francis has been undergoing physical and respiratory therapy, using an oxygen mask at night and a high-flow oxygen cannula during the day. Though not seen publicly, he has followed Vatican prayers via video link and recently shared an audio message thanking supporters.
