Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to visit India later this year for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, the Kremlin confirmed following a phone conversation between the two leaders. During the call, both leaders reaffirmed the strength of the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, highlighting that their relations continue to develop dynamically, unaffected by external influence. Modi extended his greetings to Putin on the 80th anniversary of Victory Day.

Putin, in turn, strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 tourists, expressing full support to India in its fight against terrorism and stressing the need to bring the perpetrators to justice. Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke with Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar, urging political and diplomatic solutions to India-Pakistan tensions. The Kremlin also called for de-escalation between the two nations, expressing deep concern over the growing tension at the border.
