Former Bangladesh cricketer Tamim Iqbal was hospitalized after experiencing chest pain during a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match in Dhaka. The incident took place during the first innings of a 50-over match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club.

Initially, a helicopter was arranged to transport the 36-year-old from the BKSP ground in Savar, but he was ultimately taken by road to Fazilatunnesa Hospital. Match referee Debabrata Pal confirmed the development, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
Iqbal, a legendary figure in Bangladesh cricket, had retired from international cricket twice—first in July 2023 before reversing his decision within 24 hours, reportedly due to then-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s intervention. He officially retired again in January 2024.
With an illustrious career spanning 70 Tests, 243 ODIs, and 78 T20Is, Iqbal amassed over 15,000 international runs. His last appearance for Bangladesh was in 2023.
