TORNADO NEAR SHERMAN, TEXAS SPARKS WIDESPREAD STORM WARNINGS AND DAMAGE THREATS

A massive tornado was spotted near Sherman, Texas, on Sunday evening, triggering widespread concern as severe weather warnings swept across the state. Storm chasers and residents shared dramatic videos of the twister and intense thunderstorms on social media. Wind speeds reached up to 90 mph, with forecasters confirming a strong tornado just north of Sherman, near Dallas.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch 399, effective until 4:00 AM CDT, covering 54 Texas counties including Dallas, Denton, Tarrant, and Wise. The storms brought golf ball-sized hail and wind gusts of 60 mph, posing significant threats to homes, vehicles, and trees.


Cities like Fort Worth, Abilene, and Nacogdoches were at risk, along with rural areas like Comanche and Somervell. Parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana were also affected. Residents were urged to seek shelter in interior rooms on the lowest floors of sturdy buildings to avoid injury.
