At least 21 people were killed as U.S. President Donald Trump ordered large-scale military strikes against Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis on Saturday. The operation was launched in response to Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping, with Trump vowing to put an end to the disruptions.

“To all Houthi terrorists, YOUR TIME IS UP,” Trump declared in a post on X, warning that continued aggression would bring severe consequences.
Since late 2023, the Houthis have been targeting commercial and military vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, claiming retaliation for Israel’s blockade on Gaza. Despite a ceasefire, they recently threatened to resume strikes on Israeli-linked ships.
Trump defended the military action, emphasizing the need to protect global trade and American interests. “No terrorist force will stop U.S. commercial and naval vessels from freely navigating the world’s waterways,” he asserted, also warning Iran against further support for the Houthis.
